Steady heads for the days that matter.

I'm Eddy Sheeky, a Sport & Exercise Psychologist in Training, from Ardboe. I help Gaelic games players, their parents and their teams with pressure, nerves and setbacks, in person around Tyrone or online anywhere.

Who I work with

Most people find me through a teammate, a coach or a parent who has been there.

Players

Nerves before big games, form dropping off, getting dropped, coming back from injury, or the game not feeling enjoyable any more.

Parents

You can see it is getting to them and you are not sure what to say. The first call is for you as much as for them, and it costs nothing.

Teams

Club and county set-ups: squad workshops, one-to-one work for players who want it, and support for the management across a season.

How it works

Three stops. The first one is free, and there is no pressure to go any further.

START · FREE

A 20-minute call

You tell me what is going on. I tell you honestly whether I can help.

THEN · BY EMAIL

A plan in plain English

What we would work on, how many sessions, and the cost. Sent after the call.

AFTER · ONLINE OR IN PERSON

The work

Blocks of one, three or five sessions. What is underneath first, then the skills on top.

Most players start with a block of three. Teams usually run across a full season.

A bit about me

I'm from Ardboe, on the shore of Lough Neagh, and I still play Gaelic football myself. So I know the Tuesday night after a bad Sunday.

I set up ES Performance Psychology after finishing my Master's. Most of my work since has been in Gaelic games, at club and inter-county level, with some soccer, basketball, lacrosse and cricket along the way.

I keep the work simple. That is not the same as easy. Every week I write a short newsletter about what I'm seeing with players and teams, and you can read it below.

AWAY FROM THE PITCH

WHAT PLAYERS, PARENTS AND COACHES SAY

“Eddy brought me from a position of desperation and considering stepping away from football, to being in a position that I could enjoy my football again, relax about big matches.”

Notes from the season

From my weekly newsletter. A new post every Monday and Thursday.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Can you separate your identity from the game?

Who are you when the result doesn't go your way? In GAA circles it becomes surprisingly difficult.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Are you using mental skills as a crutch?

A reset strategy gets you back to the present. The better question is why your attention drifted.

CLUB

Approaching the club championship

The county lads are back and everyone has an opinion. How to keep your own head in it.

One letter a week, in season

What I'm seeing with teams, one skill you can use, and the odd bit of research. Between 100 and 140 players, parents and coaches read it every week.

Thanks, you're on the list.

Twenty minutes.

No charge.

Straight answers.

Pick a time and tell me what is going on. If I'm not the right person, I'll say so and point you to someone who is.
